ETHICS & SUSTAINABILITY
Transparency is key for us here at SÆ-RIMA, and we want to ensure that any item has a transparency, from hair scrunchie to hoodie…
We only work with 100% organic cotton, recycled polyester and remnant fabrics that would otherwise go to landfill.
Our organic cotton is sourced over in India, where organizations such as FAIRWEAR FOUNDATION, GOTS and PETA ensure safe working conditions for garment workers with monthly visits to the factories to ensure those involved are cared for and treated well - from the the environment in which they work, working hours and even pay.
Organic means that no pesticides have been used to treat the plants - meaning less water is used in the making, and the soil and materials are not tainted with nasty chemicals. The soil itself is therefore clean and organic, where all the best things can grow away from harmful substances.
Our hair scrunchies and mask are sourced here in the UK from dead-stock fabric that would otherwise go to landfill. These are saved and turned into the beautiful creations you will see on our website, each handmade by the Suffolk coast.
With regards to waste water, the factories in which our clothing is made are equipped with state-of-the art Effluent Treatment Plants which remove toxic elements from the water and ensure it’s safe to be reused.
We are proud to say that our clothing and accessories are all covered by the following fantastic certifications and charities:
GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard)
Oeko-Tex (Tested for harmful substances)
OCS Blended (Organic Content Standard)
GRS (Global Recycled Standard)
